THE CHANCELLERY OF
H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II AND
PRINCESS KATARINA
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Princess Katarina visited Petrovac na Mlavi today, where they were enthusiastically greeted by a few thousand citizens of this town who had come out in the streets on this occasion. Upon their arrival, Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Princess Katarina visited the church of the Holly Ascending and the Town Hall, where a formal reception was organized. After the reception, a cultural program was organized in the very center of the town. The Mayor of Petrovac na Mlavi Mr. Aca Životić thanked to the Crown Prince and his wife on their visit, and pointed out that the return of Their Royal Highnesses, and their visit to this town represent a crown of victory of democracy in our country and Petrovac na Mlavi municipality. Addressing to the many citizens of Petrovac na Mlavi, Crown Prince Aleksandar II said: “ Neither you nor I have time to be patient. The battle for democracy has been won, but now we must fight for democratic institutions and laws. Democracy is no substitute for prosperity, but there is no prosperity without democracy. That is why we have no right to downheartedness and that is why there is no place for those who put their personal and their parties’ interests before general well-being.” Their Royal Highnesses then visited Gornjak Monastery, legacy of Prince Lazar, and after that refuge camp “Kasarna”, where 350 refugees live at the moment, and where Princess Katarina delivered humanitarian aid in clothes, shoes and blankets. After the visit to the camp, Crown Prince and Princess took the tour of the Health Center in Petrovac na Mlavi, and on that occasion Princess Katarina donated medical supplies, blankets and shoes to this health care institution. Princess Katarina emphasized that delivered help was only a small contribution, but it was an expression of true care and love of our people. She also supported health care personnel, who had worked in very difficult conditions for years, to persevere in their humane mission. On their return to Belgrade, Crown Prince Aleksandar laid a wreath on the monument to his grandfather King Aleksandar I in the village of Tabanovci, near Petrovac na Mlavi.
