THE CHANCELLERY OF
HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II AT THE CELEBRATION OF THE DAY OF BELGRADE UNIVERSITY
HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II attended the celebration of the Day of Belgrade University, the oldest and the biggest academic institution in our country, at the Rector’s Office in Belgrade today. Beside HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II, the celebration was attended by Serbian Minister of education Mr. Gašo Knežević, Minister of science and technology Mr. Dragan Domazet, rectors and proctors of the universities in Serbia, as well as the deans and professors of faculties of Belgrade University. Invitees were first addressed by Belgrade University Rector Prof. Dr. Marija Bogdanović,., who briefly presented information about University’s achievements in the last year, reforms that were conducted, scholarship funds that were established, and further future plans. On this occasion Mrs. Bogdanović thanked HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II for establishing the Royal House Karađorđević Fund, that granted 101 undergraduate students of Yugoslav universities. Present guests were also addressed by Minister of education Mr. Gašo Knežević, Minister of science and technology Mr. Dragan Domazet, Rector of University of Niš Prof. Goran Milenković, dean of Faculty of Chemistry at Belgrade University Prof. Dr. Predrag Polić and representative of students' organizations Mr. Vuk Vučić. They reviewed current situation in high education and science, and among other issues pointed out the need of depolitization of faculties, and creating better working environment for students. After “Obilić” choir’s performance, conducted by Mrs. Darinka Matić-Marović, the most successful students from all the universities in Serbia were awarded by several scholarship funds.
