H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II AT THE BENEFACTORS’ ASSEMBLY FOR THE MONASTERY MORACNIK
H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar II attended the benefactors’ assembly for the reconstruction of Monastery Moračnik on the Skadar Lake last night at “Raša Plaović” scene of Belgrade National Theatre. Monastery Moračnik is a sanctity of Serbian people and Mount Athos of Zeta and 250 years ago it was destroyed by the Ottomans. After two and a half centuries, monks returned to Moračnik Monastery in 1988. The host of this assembly was His Eminence Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amphilochius who was the initiator of this important project. Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amphilochius, caretaker of Moračnik Monastery prior Jovan Ćulibrk, art historian Mrs. Anika Skovran, archeologist Mr. Đorđe Janković, architect Mr. Zoran Tucić and representative of Montenegrin tribe Crmničari Mr. Miodrag Raičević talked about the historical importance of this monastery. Besides Crown Prince Aleksandar II, former President of the Republic of Srpska Mrs. Biljana Plavšić, Federal Secretary of Religion Prof. Dr. Bogoljub Šijaković, Minister of Religion of the Republic of Srpska Mr. Dušan Antelj and numerous figures from cultural and political life of our country attended this assembly.
