HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER AT THE CELEBRATION OF THE GENDARMERIE PATRON SAINT DAY

Belgrade, 28 June 2012 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander, accompanied by Professor Nicholas Moravcevich, member of the Crown Council, attended today the celebration of the Patron Saint Day of the Gendarmerie at the Training Centre of Ministry of the Interior in Makis, regarding the 152 anniversary  of this Police Unit.

The Celebration started with the intonation of the National and Gendarmerie anthems, followed by the act of cutting the slava cake performed by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvostano, afterward speeches were given by H.E. Mr. Ivica Dacic, Minister of the Interior and designate Prime Minister of Serbian Government, police General Dr. Bratislav Dikic, Commander of the Gendarmerie and Mr. Milorad Veljovic, Serbian police director. With the conclusion of speeches plaques were given to the members of the Gendarmerie and to the family members of the late Gendarmerie members. Among the many prominent guests were also H.E. Mr. Michal Davenport, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Serbia, Mr. Colonel William English, Defence Ataché at the Embassy of the United Kingdom, representative of the American embassy as well as delegations of Gendarmeries of Bulgaria and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
