CROWN PRINCE APPALLED ABOUT THE HAGUE TRIBUNAL DECISION

Belgrade, 17 November 2012 – The Crown Prince Alexander issued a statement regarding the decision of the Hague Tribunal in the cases of Markac and Gotovina.

“Civilized society must rest on the high principles of equality before law and court. It is one of the principle foundations of European civilization. The present Judgment as well as the others will certainly be the subject of analyses and professional critique for decades ahead of us and an impartial professional and moral view of the same will be formed.

There is a serious risk that any idea of trust in impartiality of the Hague Tribunal will be absolutely irreparably demolished with all the heavy civilizational consequences. It is hard to understand that there could be legal reasons due to which a great difference exists in judgment of atrocities and culprits depending on ethnic origin, that culprits of atrocities against the Serbs are again either very lightly punished or even set free, especially in comparison to the very severe sentences imposed against the Serbs. The Hague Tribunal has a moral responsibility and owes an explanation.

The Hague Tribunal has the obligation now to immediately review all the Serbian cases without any delay and this is only fair”.
