ROYAL COUPLE ATTEND CEREMONY FOR 120 YEARS SERBIAN LITERARY ASSOCIATION
Belgrade, 26 November 2012 – Their Royal Hignesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended this evening the ceremony commemorating 120 years of the founding of the Serbian Literary Association on the stage of the National Theatre in Belgrade.
His Holiness Patriarch Irinej blessed and endorsed the celebration. Prof. Dr. Milo Lompar, the newly elected Secretary of the Serbian Literary Association addressed the audience with a welcome speech. Words of encouragement and congratulations as well came from H.E. Mr. Bratislav Petkovic, Minister of Culture and Information. Among the distinguished guests there were Dr Vojislav Kostunica, President of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), Mr. Radoslav Pavlovic, Councillor for culture of the President of the Republic, Mr. Miodrag Maticki, President of Vuk Foundation, many school principals and directors of Serbian museums.
The famous words of Stojan Novakovic that the founders of Serbian Literary Association "left aside anything that might divide us," and on the other hand, "looked for new ways of being and working together", is still one of the basic principles in the work of this institution that raises hope that Serbian Literary Association will continue to gather giants of Serbian society and our literature in the future.
