OF YUGOSLAVIA

PARTIARCH AND THE HOLY ASSEMBLY DINE AT THE ROYAL PALACE

On the occasion of the first session of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, TRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted a reception for the members of the Holy Synod, headed by His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Pavle, at the Royal Palace last night.

The reception was attended by the Federal Secretary of Religion Mr. Bogoljub Šijaković, member of the Privy Council Arch. Dragomir Acović and members of the Crown Council Matija Bećković, SANU, and Prof. Dragoljuub Kavran, PhD.

During the visit of the Royal Palace, before the dinner, the invitees together with their hosts went to the Royal Church designated to Saint Apostle Andrew the First Called, where thay said a prayer.

Addressing His Holliness the Serbian Patriarch Pavle and the Archbishops, the Crown Prince said that at the times of great misfortunes that had happened to us, the Church carried its burden of responsibilities and duties bravely and patiently, preaching God's laws and love among men, and the Crown took care to support and strentghen that message.

‘’During the last year and a half, many things have changed. Those changes are fundamental and sometimes we do not find our way in those changes. However, they are here and the biggest transgression and injustice would be not to do all in our power to prevent the return of the old evil, and not to prepare our world for those who are going to come after us”, said HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II.
