THE CHANCELLERY OF
PARTICIPANTS OF “MOBA 2002'' AT THE WHITE PALACE
Belgrade, 20 August, 2002 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted a reception for members of the Folk Dance Group “Oplenac” from Toronto taking part in the “Moba 2002” Festival, at the White Palace today. Her Excellency Mrs. Angela Bogdan, the Canadian Ambassador to Belgrade, who attended the reception, expressed pleasure at having the opportunity to welcome the Canadians of Serbian origin in their forefathers’ land. “Moba” was organised jointly by the Diaspora Council and the Serbian Orthodox Church in order to get young Serbs from the Diaspora together with people of similar age in the homeland. The idea is also to give an opportunity to the children who visit their ancestral home to get acquainted with the heritage, tradition, culture, religion and language of their own people. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar II, who is the patron of “Moba”, welcomed those present and pointed out that the doors of the Dedinje Palaces will always be open for the participants of the Festival. Mr. Kosta Pavlović, ”Moba 2002” representative and Mr. Slobodan Dimitrijević, “Oplenac” President thanked Their Royal Highnesses on behalf of the guests for the warm welcome and expressed the hope that a similar visit will take place next year. The “Oplenac” members played a number of traditional Serbian dances and in honour of their hosts and Her Excellency Mrs. Angela Bogdan sang the Serbian anthem “Bože pravde” as well as the Canadian national anthem. |
