HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE DELIVERS DONATIONS TO THE HEALTH CENTERS IN SABAC, LOZNICA AND VALJEVO
Belgrade, 9 September 2002 – TRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II, Crown Princess Katherine and Prince Filip visited Sabac, Loznica and Valjevo today, where Princess Katherine delivered donations in medical equipment and ambulances to the local health centers, worth € 75,000 total. Their Royal Highnesses were hosted in Valjevo by Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Dusan Mihajlovic. Touring west Serbia, Their Royal Highnesses first visited Sabac, where they were welcomed at the Bishop’s Court by the Bishop of Sabac and Valjevo Lavrentije. After visiting the temple, the guests attended a short reception at the Town Hall, and then they went to the Health Center in Sabac, where Princess Katherine donated a completely equipped ambulance “Citroen”, and a neonatal incubator, all worth about € 35,000. The director of the Sabac hospital Mr. Slobodan Mirkovic thanked Princess Katherine for her care and effort that she puts in her daily humanitarian activities, as well as for valuable aid that she delivered to this institution. Emphasizing that today’s donation represents only a symbolic aid, HRH Crown Princess Katherine pointed out that she will try to help even more in the future, so that the citizens of this municipality can have better health care system. After visiting a few wards of the Health Center in Sabac, Their Royal Highnesses went to Loznica, where Princess Katherine delivered an ambulance “Zastava Yugo 128” worth about € 5,000. On the occasion, Their Royal Highnesses accompanied by the director, Dr. Zoran Jovic, took a tour of several hospital wards, some of which were in very bad conditions. Princess Katherine said she was aware of the great needs of this institutions, and added that she hoped this donation would enable the staff to help the patients more efficiently. TRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II, Crown Princess Katherine and Prince Filip then visited the Orphanage in Banja Koviljaca near Loznica, where they delivered candies and toys to the children. Finishing their visit, Their Royal Highnesses went to Valjevo, where they were welcomed at the Town Hall by Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Dusan Mihajlovic and the President of Valjevo municipality Mr. Tomislav Milanovic with his associates. Mr. Mihajlovic, who was born in Valjevo, expressed his pleasure for Their Royal Highnesses visiting Valjevo, and thanked to the Princess for her aid delivered to Valjevo hospital. Together with their hosts and Minister Mihajlovic, Their Royal Highnesses visited Health Center in Valjevo, where Princess Katherine delivered a completely equipped ambulance “Citroen” and a neonatal incubator, all worth about € 35,000. The visit to Valjevo was finished by going to the candies, cakes and sweets plant “Todorovic”, whose owner Mr. Dragan Todorovic made the birthday cake for HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II on 17 July. |
