TRH CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II AND CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE DELIVER DONATIONS TO THE HEALTH CENTERS IN SREMSKA MITROVICA, SOMBOR AND SUBOTICA

Belgrade, 12 September 2002 – TRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine visited Sremska Mitrovica, Sombor and Subotica today, where they delivered donations in medical equipment and ambulances to the local health centers.

Total value of delivered aid was € 38,000 and it represents a part of the equipment rallied during the great humanitarian event organized by the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine at the White Palace this June.

Their Royal Highnesses first visited Sremska Mitrovica where they attended a short reception at the Town Hall and then went to the Health Center where they donated an ambulance “Citroen” (€ 29,000) to deputy director Dr. Miroslav Kendrišić.

Delivering this donation, the Princess pointed out: “I am very happy, together with my husband, to be your guest again, after a year, and to deliver you this ambulance. I hope this donation will enable you to treat your patients even better, applying your knowledge and expertise.”

After Sremska Mitrovica, Their Royal Highnesses visited Sombor. A warm welcome at the Town Hall was organized by the president of municipality Mr. Jovan Vujicic and his associates, after which they visited the local Health Center. Princess Katherine delivered a neonatal incubator “Medicina TS” (€ 4,500) to the director of Sombor Hospital, and pointed out that she hopes these donation will ease, even in the least, the difficult situation our people are in, especially when it comes to the health care. The director of the Health Center Dr. Branislav Bojic, sincerely thanked for the effort and love that Princess Katherine is investing into her humanitarian activities every day.

After taking a round of several wards in Sombor Hospital, Their Royal Highnesses continued their tour of Vojvodina by visiting Subotica, where a reception at the Town Hall was organized for them.

In a conversation with the Mayor of Subotica Mr. Istvan Ispanovic, Crown Prince Aleksandar pointed out Subotica as a good model of multi-confessional and multination city where different nations and religions fit together and where tolerance and cooperation present model of common life.

Their Royal Highnesses went to the Health Center afterwards where they delivered a neonatal incubator “Medicina TS” (€ 4,500) to the director Dr. Radovan Markov.

Princess Katherine said that children are our most valuable possession, so it is our commitment to see that our maternity wards have all the necessary equipment.

Mr. Zivojin Djordjevic, owner and director of the company Fresh &Co. from Subotica was also present during the delivery of donation. As one of the donors in great humanitarian action of the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, he expressed his wish that this donation goes to Subotica Health Center.

Within the program of delivering humanitarian aid to the health institutions in our country during June, July, August and September, HRH Crown Princess Katherine delivered donations to the health centers in Kosovska Mitrovica, Gracanica, Kotor, Kraljevo, Becej, Kikinda, Kragujevac, Sabac, Valjevo, Loznica, Vranje, Surdulica, Clinical Center in Belgrade and many other hospitals in Belgrade.

The value of donations so far is about € 450,000.
