NEW DONATIONS OF THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES TO BELGRADE HEALTH INSTITUTIONS Aid to the Institute for Neuropsychiatric diseases “Dr. Laza Lazarevic” and to the Institute for Mental Health Belgrade, 13 September 2002 – Continuing the program of delivering medical equipment and ambulances to health institutions in our country, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Princess Katherine visited the Institute for Neuropsychiatric diseases “Dr. Laza Lazarevic” and the Institute for Mental Health in Belgrade today. On that occasion they donated to each Institute a computer with “Microsoft” program for database of patients, in the total value of € 2,400. Crown Prince Aleksandar and Princess Katherine first delivered the donation to the Institute for Neuropsychiatric diseases “Dr. Laza Lazarevic”, where the director of the Institute Dr. Ivan Dimitrijevic thanked them for the aid and the warm words of their support. Handing over the donation, Princess Katherine said it was a symbolic gift, and that the greatest value was love that the Karadjordjevics feel for their people. After taking a round through several wards where they first hand saw the shortage of equipment and inadequate working environment, the Crown Prince and Princess visited the Institute for Mental Health, where they delivered their donation to the director, Prof. Dr. Petar Opalic. Director Opalic explained the plans for reconstruction of the hospital and purchasing new equipment, as well as for re-establishing the high level of expertise in the scientific and educational level, for which substantial investments are required. Princess Katherine expressed her readiness to help this Institute further, but also all the other institutions that require help. Crown Prince Aleksandar II pointed out the need for political stability in our country without which there will be no foreign investments, and they are one of the conditions of our economy’s recovery, and by that, recovery of our health care system. |
