THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES AND MRS. DENISE HALE DELIVER AMBULANCES TO BELGRADE HOSPITALS Belgrade, 17 September 2002 – Continuing the program of delivering medical equipment and ambulances to the health institutions in our country, TRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine, accompanied by Mrs. Denise Hale, visited Special hospital for prevention and treatment of cerebro-vascular diseases “Saint Sava”, and the Clinic for rehabilitation “Dr. Miroslav Zotovic” in Belgrade today, where they donated two ambulances “Mercedes”, worth € 60,000 total. The ambulances are Mrs. Denise Hale’s donation, an American of Serbian origin, who was one of the participants of the great humanitarian event organized by the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine at the White Palace this June. Their Royal Highnesses and Mrs. Hale first visited the Hospital for prevention and treatment of cerebro-vascular diseases “Saint Sava”, where they handed over the keys of the ambulance (€ 30,000) to the director, Dr. Milan Savic. On this occasion, Princess Katherine said: ”My husband Crown Prince Aleksandar II and I, with the help of many donors successfully carried out the humanitarian event in June, and we rallied equipment in the total value of over € 1,000,000. Today is with us Mrs. Hale, a great humanitarian, thanks to whom your hospital is getting this ambulance”. Obviously excited, Princess Katherine thanked Mrs. Hale for her donation and expressed hope that her gesture will be an example to the Serbs in Diaspora to participate more in aiding our country, particularly health care system where the situation is still very difficult. Mrs. Hale emphasized her pleasure for being able to help, and pointed out that this donation is in memory of her grandparents, whom she grew up with in Serbia. Their Royal Highnesses and Mrs. Hale then went to the Clinic for rehabilitation “Dr. Miroslav Zotovic” where they donated an ambulance “Mercedes” (€ 30,000) to the director, Prof. Dr. Stevan Jovic, who took the distinguished guests in a round of the children’s ward, where the young patients delighted them with a short performance. |
