MEMORIAL SERVICE AND LITURGY FOR KING ALEKSANDAR I AT THE CHURCH OF ST. GEORGE AT OPLENAC

Belgrade, 09 October 2002 – His Grace Bishop of Šumadija Jovan with clergy of Sumadija bishopric served holy liturgy and memorial service at the Church of Saint George at Oplenac today, on the occasion of 68th anniversary of the late King Aleksandar I’s death.

HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II was represented by the member of the Crown Council Dragomir Acović, and Prof. Dr. Branko Brborić was present on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Endowment.

The liturgy was also attended by Serbian Minister of Religion Prof. Dr. Vojislav Milovanović, local authorities from Topola, presidents of several Šumadija municipalities, the granddaughter of French marshal and Yugoslav “vojvoda” Franchet d’Esperey Countess De Saint Pierre, as well as many representatives of monarchistic clubs and citizens.
