BUSTS OF KING PETAR II – A PRESENT TO HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II FROM MRS. NEVENKA URBANOV, THE ACTRESS Belgrade, 18 October 2002 – On behalf of our prominent theatre artist and the former actress of the National Theatre in Belgrade Mrs. Nevenka Urbanov (90), two busts of King Petar II, father of HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II were presented to the Crown Prince by Mr. Dimitrije Maric, academic painter. The original plaster casts are the work of the late husband of Mrs. Urbanov, famous sculptor Dusan Jovanovic, who was the son of the Royal photographer and a friend to King Petar I, Mr. Dragan Jovanovic, the cousin of famous painter Mr. Paja Jovanovic. Mrs. Nevenka Urbanova who could not present the gift herself because of her illness, said in a letter addressed to the Crown Prince: “ Today is a special, joyous day for me. I am very happy for my long lasting wish will be fulfilled and you will be presented with the sculptures I had promised to you as a welcome gift, long time ago”. The sculptures made by Dusan Jovanovic and presented by Mrs. Urbanova, were used as models for the reverse of the 50 dinars coin, before the WWII. Also present on this occasion were the director of the Historical Museum of Serbia Mr. Andrej Vojnovic, curator of the Historical Museum of Serbia Mrs. Izabela Martinov-Tomovic and the member of the Crown Council Mr. Dragomir Acovic.
