After delivering donation HRH Crown Princess Katherine opens maternity ward

Belgrade, 28 October 2002 – After their visit to Nova Varos, Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine visited Prijepolje yesterday, where the Princess formally opened renewed maternity ward, the reconstruction of which was aided by her Foundation with €15,000, and together with the Crown Prince delivered donation of an ambulance and a thermo table for the babies.

Total value of the donations is €22,000.

Upon their arrival to Prijepolje, at the meeting with the Mayor Mr. Stevan Puric and his associates, the Crown Prince and his wife expressed their interest in social and economic situation in the municipality, the status of the refugees and other current affairs. The Crown Prince expressed his great pleasure because of the good ethnic and religious relationships in this municipality of mixed population.

Delivering the donation at the hospital and ceremonial opening of the maternity ward were attended by the representatives of Serbian Orthodox Church and Islamic Community, as well as the staff and many other citizens.

Delivering the donation and opening the maternity ward, notably excited Princess Katherine said the renovation of the maternity ward was helped by the friend of the family Mr. Sirdar Ali Aziz who is one of many people willing to help our hospitals and our country.

“It is our wish that this equipment, which is a result of our humanitarian work, is used in the best possible way and helps that the joy of new life shines on all faces. We shall continue our work, but we expect you to hand over the information of your needs to us. We can do so much together in humanitarian programs like this”, said Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine.

On behalf of the staff and all the citizens of Prijepolje, the director of the hospital Dr. Goran Tomasevic thanked for the donation.
