DONATION TO CLINICAL CENTER OF SERBIA AND UNIVERSITY PEDIATRIC CLINIC AND VISIT TO THE INSTITUTE OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES “DEDINJE”

Belgrade, 31 October 2002 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine delivered donations of HRH Princess Katherine’s Foundation to the Institute of Neurology of the Clinical Center of Serbia and to the University Pediatric Clinic, and they visited the Institute of Cardiovascular diseases “Dedinje”.

“This are not big gifts, the biggest gift is love of my husband and mine for you. We are a European country and our people deserve to be treated with medications and equipment that are on European level, and we shall do everything we can to reach that level”, said Princess Katherine at the Clinical Center where she delivered five “Draeger” aspirators (€ 13,000) and three computers with software (€ 3,600). Addressing the present, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar II expressed his pleasure for this equipment that will improve the treatment.

A neonatal “Draeger” incubator (€ 11,240) was donated to the University Pediatric Clinic, as well as “Draeger” aspirator (€3,000) and “Fresenius” dialysis machine (€ 16,000). The total value of these equipment is over € 30,000. At the same time, Their Royal Highnesses pointed at several options for further education of our doctors at the leading world clinics, which they could help, as well as at the possibility for foreign doctors to help in expert training of our doctors.

The delivered equipment was rallied by HRH Crown Princess Katherine’s Foundation, during the great humanitarian event this June, when over € 1,000,000 was rallied in aid of our health institutions.

In a short visit to the Institute of Cardiovascular diseases “Dedinje”, Their Royal Highnesses were introduced to the work of this most prominent health institution and its further plans.

Today’s visit is just a continuation of humanitarian work of Their Royal Highnesses and their efforts to help the patients by donating medical equipment, and through experts exchanges.
