HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II with the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hočevar in the Church of Saint King within the Catholic Archbishopric in Belgrade.
Also present at this meeting were General Vicar of Bishops' Conference in Yugoslavia Father Leopold Rohmes and Coordinator of all churches Mr. Anthon Rojc, and issues of all aspects of the life of Roman Catholic Church here in Yugoslavia, its collaboration with Serbian Orthodox Church and other religious groups were discussed, as well as reconstruction of the Archbishop's residency. During a warm and open conversation, Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Belgrade Archbishop Mr. Stanislav Hocevar shared an opinion that equal respect must be given to all citizens, regardless of their ethnic or religious origin, and that freedom of religion, human rights and democracy must be respected. Crown Prince Aleksandar II emphasized that only if we choose to go democratic way and respect all human rights, there will be progress. “There is no room for extremism and intolerance here. We are a great country and we will have a better future only if we respect each other and work together'', he said. Belgrade Archbishop said that the dialogue was the only way for strengthening the identity of individual churches and religious groups, and at the same time, the only way of their integration. HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II visited Saint King's Church, built at the begining of the XX century, the oldest Catholic church in our country which was the part of the former Austro-Hungarian Embassy chapel.
