HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II PATRON OF THE EXHIBITION IN AID OF MONASTERY DJURDJEVI STUPOVI

Belgrade, 6 December 2002 – Exhibition and auction of icons from all over Serbia was organized at the “Gallery of Frescos” in Belgrade , in aid of renovation of Monastery Djurdjevi Stupovi, endowment of Serbian medieval King Stefan Nemanja, from 12th century.

The exhibition was organized by the Friends of Monastery Djurdjevi Stupovi, and it is under patronage of HRH Crown Prince Alexander II, National Museum and Ministries of Culture and Religion.

About 150 icons, miniatures, calligraphies and icon-light lamps were displayed, mostly made on the model of medieval frescos.

In the abscence of HRH Crown Prince Alexander II, the opening of the exhibition was attended by the Crown Council member Mr. Dragomir Acovic.
