VISIT TO GREECE AND GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR INVESTMENT IN YUGOSLAVIA

Athens, 11 December 2002 – TRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Crown Princess Katherine, together with the Serbian Minister of Economy and Privatization Mr. Aleksandar Vlahovic, were in Athens yesterday where they spoke about humanitarian and economic situation and investment opportunities in our country at a press conference.

At the press conference in Athens hotel “Plaza”, HRH Crown Princess Katherine, who has been the coordinator for humanitarian aid in Yugoslavia since 2000 when she was appointed to that position by the Federal Ministry of Health, spoke about the difficult conditions in our health institutions, the shortage of medical equipment and medicine, as well as about the life of refugees and internally displaced persons, whose number in Yugoslavia is over 730,000.

On the occasion of upcoming Christmas holidays, the Princess appealed to the Greek people for donations in presents that would bring joy to Yugoslav children without parental care.

Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Minister Vlahovic spoke about the current economic situation and investment opportunities in Yugoslavia at our Embassy in Athens. The host of the conference was Yugoslav Ambassador in Greece, HE Dr. Dusan Batakovic.

Dr. Thanasis Lavidas, the owner of the largest Greek pharmaceutical company “Lavipharm” and the Chairman of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (E.EN.E.), who was in Belgrade last week, organized the lunch in conjunction Mr Symeon Tsomokos and the dinner in honour of Their Royal Highnesses and Minister Vlahovic yesterday.

HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Minister Vlahovic talked with Greek businessmen about investment opportunities in Yugoslavia, the privatization of our companies and further plans of the companies that already are in our market.

During his stay in Athens, HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Minister Vlahovic visited the headquarters of the Latsis Group, one of the most successful Greek companies, that was among major donors in the great humanitarian program of the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine this June.
