TRADITIONAL HUMANITARIAN EVENT OF DECORATING CHRISTMAS TREES AT THE “HYATT” HOTEL

Belgrade, 14 December 2002 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Prince Filip, on behalf of the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, took part in the humanitarian event of decorating Christmas trees, for the seventh time traditionally organized by Belgrade “Hyatt” hotel.

The aim of this event is to give a unique holiday experience to the citizens of Belgrade, in the spirit of different cultures, and to revive the atmosphere of sharing and kindness. The organizers wanted to bring together local and international humanitarian organizations that would present themselves and their work in the passing year one more time, through taking part in this year’s Christmas trees exhibition. Large number of visitors of the exhibition will have a chance to vote for the most beautiful tree, and the ceremony of announcing the winner will be held on 17 January 2003.

Next to HRH Crown Princess Katherine’s Foundation’s Christmas tree, at the “Hyatt” hotel, there are also the trees of : “Dream Team”, headed by Mrs. Lynne Montgomery, the wife of the American Ambassador in Yugoslavia, of UNICEF, National Park “Zasavica”, Academy of Fine Arts, Direction for Sport of Serbian Ministry of Education and Sport – through the program “Play for Life”, “Ellington’s” bar, and local media.

The year behind us was a very difficult one for those who depend on somebody else’s help and care, in the first place for the children without parental care and children with special needs. This manifestation was dedicated to them and it showed that humane people still exist.
