HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II CONDEMNS THE INCIDENT IN FRONT OF THE PATRIARCHY OF SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

Belgrade, 25 December 2002 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II has learnt, with deep regret about the despicable incident that took place last night in front of the Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarchy, when Christians of the Anglican denomination were prevented to have their service at the Chapel of Saint Simon the Myrthflowing, on the occasion of Christmas Eve according to Gregorian calendar.

Particularly regrettable was the ignoring of the appeal from His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia Pavle, not to disturb this Christian holiday, in the spirit of Christian and brotherly love.

The believers of our Serbian Orthodox Church in Great Britain are grateful to the Anglican Church that indebted them by making it possible for them to use Anglican churches for their own Liturgical needs.

Last night’s despicable incident shows the lack of tolerance and that the foundation of any true faith is above all based on love and mutual respect, especially to those who build their confession on the Holy Bible and God’s laws.
