Donations to other Belgrade Centers for children without parental care

Belgrade, February 8, 2003 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine delivered new donations to Belgrade Centers for neglected children today.

“Mercedes Vito” van worth €21,000 was delivered to the Center for children without parental care in Zvecanska Street, and children in other Belgrade Centers were given clothes and shoes collected in the joint action of the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine and YUTEF named “Good deeds are always in fashion” that will continue through the whole year.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine announced donation of “Mercedes” Van during her Christmas visit of the Center in Zvecanska Street when she delivered big quantity of clothes, toys and bed sheets to the children.

“Mercedes” van is a present of Miss Mariangela Paravalou and her friends from the American College of Greece. Miss Paravalou visited the Center in Zvecanska Street together with Princess Katherine last year, when she learnt about the need for one vehicle that would be used for transportation of children from the Center to medical institutions.

Wishing to help Belgrade children without parental care, Miss Paravalou initiated very successful humanitarian action at her College in Greece and today she attended the delivery of donation together with members of delegation of the American College, consisting of the Dean of the College Mrs. Stamatia Mavrikou, Advisor of the Student Association Mr. Panagiotis Polydoropoulos and President of Student Association Mr. Anastasios Alityoglou.

“My husband Crown Prince Alexander and our sons Peter, Philip and Alexander will remain your truly friends in the future and you should know that you can always count on our support and help”, said Crown Princess Katherine during the delivery of the donation.

On behalf of the delegation of the American College of Greece, Miss Paravalou sent greetings of friendly Greek people and Mr. Polydoropolous introduced the history of the College and expressed his hope that the delivery of this donation would motivate other people to help.

Serbian Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Mr. Mica Lisanin, Director of the Centre for infant and youth care Mr. Zoran Milacic and “Mercedes-Benz Yugoslavia” representatives from Belgrade were also present at the donation delivery.

Princess Katherine and her guests afterwards visited Belgrade Centers for children without parental care: “Mosa Pijade” and “Drinka Pavlovic” where the children, thrilled by their visit, were delivered shoes, clothes, socks, scarves, caps and toys.

Her Royal Highness today also visited the Oncology Institute at the “Clinical Centre of Serbia” where the patients at the Children’s ward were surprised with toys and candies, and the “Institute for mother and child” where the Princess and her guests learnt about difficult working conditions in this institution.
