FORMAL RECEPTION ON THE OCCASION OF SERBIA'S STATEHOOD DAY

Belgrade, 14 February 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine Karadjordjevic attended the formal reception on the occasion of Serbia’s Statehood Day, that was organized by Mrs. Natasa Micic, Speaker of the Parliament and interim President of the Republic of Serbia at the New Palace in Belgrade today.

This reception marked two great historical event: the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising, initiated in Orasac by Karadjordje, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II’s ancestor, and adoption of “Sretenje” Constitution, during the reign of Prince Milos Obrenovic.

The reception was attended by top state officials, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and other churches and religious communities, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Yugoslav Army and numerous cultural and public life personages.
