FIFTH CONGRESS OF EUROPEAN DENTAL STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OPENED

Belgrade, 2 April 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended the opening of the 5th Congress of the European Dental Students Association at the Faculty of Stomatology in Belgrade last night.

Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology Dr. Vojislav Lekovic, subdeans and professors of the Faculty, as well as by the members of the Board of the European Dental Students Association and many students.

Officially opening this Congress, Crown Prince Alexander II said:

“I am very glad that Belgrade is the host of your gathering this year, and the place where the dentists of the future will talk about their differences, but even more about the things they have in common. It is my hope and my belief that this congress will contribute in fulfilling your aims – cooperation and understanding between dental experts, exchange of ideas and resources and furthermore, creating a border free Europe.”

TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine then took a tour of the Faculty’s premises and attended a class of Greek students. Faculty of Stomatology has many foreign students, and lectures are in English.

After seeing the Faculty, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess took a photograph with the students and joined a cocktail party in honor of the 5th Congress of European Dental Students Association.

EDSA was founded in Paris in 1988 and since then it has included over 50,000 students from most European countries. This Association represents the interest of dental students in all fields, it cooperates with the Dental Education Association, EU as well as with other student organizations like the International Dental Students Association and the International Medical and Pharmacy Students Association.

The fifth Congress will take place from 2 to 6 April at the Faculty of Stomatology in Belgrade.
