DONATION OF HRH PRINCE CHARLES DELIVERED

Belgrade, 05 May 2003 – HRH Prince of Wales, the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, has sent an Autoclave sterilizer to Belgrade as his donations, which was delivered today to the Gynecological Clinic within the Clinical Center of Serbia.

This valuable donation, as the sign of HRH Prince Charles’s attention, was delivered by TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine, in the presence of HE Mr. Charles Crawford, the Ambassador of Great Britain in Belgrade.

The general manager of the Clinical Center of Serbia Prof. Dr. Vojko Djukic and the director of the Institute of gynecology and obstetrics Dr. Miroslava Pervulov thanked the Royal couple for their generous help and care not only for this institution, but for the entire health care system.

The present were addressed by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II Karadjordjevic:

“There is no doubt that if we are united in working for a better future there will be greater achievement. We must not forget that we also must take the initiative in helping ourselves as best as possible. Naturally we are also grateful for all the help we can get and in this case we thank once more my cousin The Prince of Wales”.

HE Ambassador of Great Britain Mr. Charles Crawford also addressed the present and pointed out this equipment is a clear sign of personal interest of HRH Prince Charles in the situation in our country and its future.

HRH Prince Charles has been fully introduced to the difficult situation in our health care system during his frequent encounters with Crown Prince Alexander II. The Prince of Wales in this way wanted to help our doctors and nurses who are doing their best in helping patients at this distinguished medical institution.

Beside the long time friendship, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and the Prince of Wales are also relatives. The godfather and godmother to Crown Prince Alexander II were HM King George VI and his daughter , the then Princess, and the present Queen Elizabeth II.

Their Royal Highnesses and HE Ambassador of Great Britain Mr. Charles Crawford, escorted by Prof. Dr. Djukic and Dr. Miroslava Pervulov took the tour of the obstetrics and gynecological wards of this institution, and delivered toys, diapers and clothes to the mothers of newly-born babies.
