SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH ARCHBISHOPS AT THE RECEPTION AT THE WHITE PALACE

Belgrade, 20 May 2003 - On the occasion of the regular annual session of the Holy Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church, TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted a reception for the members of the Holy Assembly, headed by His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia Pavle, at The White Palace last night.

The reception was attended by the Minister of Religion Prof. Dr. Vojislav Milovanovic, member of the Privy Council Arch. Dragomir Acović and the member of the Crown Council academician Matija Bećković.

Addressing His Holliness the Patriarch of Serbia Pavle and the Archbishops, the Crown Prince said that at the times of great misfortunes that had happened to us, the Church carried its burden of responsibilities and duties bravely and patiently, preaching God's laws and love among men, and the Crown put effort to support and strentghen that message.

“As much as it seems to us today that things are changing slowly, much has changed. What we are always returning to and what we should always return to is the faith of our forefathers, our Church. For, as our Patriarch once said – the only roof this people has always had and will always have is the roof of the Church”, said HRH Crown Prince Alexander II.
