NEW DONATION TO THE INSTITUTE FOR DIGESTIVE DISEASES OF CLINICAL CENTRE OF SERBIA AND THE INSTITUTE FOR MOTHER AND CHILD

The total value of € 27,500

Belgrade, 26 May 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine delivered today € 27,500 worth donation to the Institute for Digestive Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia and the Institute for Mother and Child.

The equipment delivered during the visit of Their Royal Highnesses was rallied during the great humanitarian event at “Ekali Club” in Athens this March, organized by the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

The Institute for Digestive Diseases received “Pentax” video gastroscope (€ 17,000) the machine of the latest generation, that this institution did not have so far. According to the general manager of the First Surgical Clinic Prof. Dr. Milos Popovic this machine will provide faster diagnosis of malignant diseases of digestive tract and permanent video recordings, which will greatly contribute in further treatment of the patients.

General manager of the Institute Prof. Dr. Predrag Pesko welcomed Their Royal Highnesses and thanked them for their help to this important medical institution.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine greeted the present and expressed her hope that this machine will be of great help in everyday struggle for health and human lives.

Crown Prince Alexander II in his short addressing to the present saluted the efforts of medical staff adding that there will be more donations like this in the future, and appealed to the Diaspora to join in rallying the equipment for the medical institutions in our country.

After that, Their Royal Highnesses took a tour of the Institute, spending some time in conversation with the patients, and then proceeded to the Institute for Mother and Child in New Belgrade.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine were welcomed there by the general manager of the Institute Prof. Dr. Rudolf Papic with his associates. After delivering the donation consisting of 4 “Fujitsu” air conditioners (€ 6,000), 3 “Braun” infusion pumps (€ 4,000), the present were addressed by HRH Crown Princess Katherine:

“My husband Crown Prince Alexander II and I believe it is the commitment of all of us to help you as much as possible. You will always have our support and it will never stop”.

Their Royal Highnesses then took a tour of the Institute and were introduced to the situation and the needs of this unique medical institution in Serbia.
