NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR HUMANE OLD AGE PROMOTED

HRH Crown Princess Katherine high patron and honorary president of the Foundation

Belgrade 27 May 2003 - TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended today the promotion of the National Foundation for humane old age that was founded by Gerontology Society of Serbia at the Institute for Health protection “J.J. Batut”.

The chairman of the Gerontology Society of Serbia Prof Dr Momir Janjic officially proclaimed HRH Crown Princess Katherine for the high patron and honorary president of the National Foundation for humane old age. The Crown Princess has been included in humanitarian work for a number of years, and her activities are directed to the care for children and the sick, as well as to the care for our eldest population.

The promotion was opened by the President of the literary club “Miroslav Antic”, Mr. Dragisa Ciric, and then Prof. Dr Momir Janjic introduce the distinguished quests with the results of the latest researches according to which our county is among the first countries of the world in the number of old people.

The present were addressed by HRH Crown Princess Katherine:

“It was with great pleasure that I accepted your request to be patron and honorary president of this Foundation. I am always deeply touched by the destiny of the old and helpless who need help from all of us. I am glad that you have found a way to get organized, so that we could all together help those who had build our lives. My husband and I believe it is commitment of all of us to help you as much as possible. You will always have our support and it will never stop”.

Then the present were addressed by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II who saluted the idea of establishing National Foundation for humane old age and invited everybody to appeal to the Diaspora not to forget the Fatherland is here and to help Foundations like this.

The program was continued by the performance of the Women’s Choir “Novi Beograd” who sang a few songs.
