During their visit to this unique educational institution Their Royal Highnesses delivered a concert piano, sound studio equipment and a video recorder worth € 27,000. The donation was rallied during the great charity concert at The White Palace on the occasion of the 23rd birthday of HRH Prince Petar, on 5 February this year. The concert was organized in cooperation with Austrian Embassy and HE Ambassador Mr. Hannes Porias. The concert on that night was performed by “Kamilarov” String Quartet and “The Royal Strings of St. George”, with special appearance of the young musicians from the School in Cuprija. The School for musical talents in Cuprija educates young musicians from all over our country, many of whom are today internationally well known artists. This School is among three of the kind in the world. The students and the teachers were addressed by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II, who wished them success in their careers and said: “The students of this School, young musicians have achieved results despite the difficulties this School is facing. That is another proof that success can be achieved with great effort of the professors and the great work and talent of the students. They have shown it during the concert at The White Palace when they performed together with “Kamilarov” Quartet. Their talent was welcomed with enthusiasm”. HRH Crown Prince Alexander II once again thanked to HE the Ambassador of Austria Mr. Hannes Porias for his help and support in this project. HE the Ambassador of Austria Mr. Hannes Porias pointed out that this day was symbolic for several reasons: because he was able to visit the School and get introduced to its work and because it established a better cooperation between Austria and our country, which will help in joining the great European family of democratic nations. The students performed a short concert for the distinguished guests and thanked for the donations, after which there was a tour of the School’s premises. Continuing their journey Their Royal Highnesses and HE the Ambassador of Austria Mr. Hannes Porias visited the Orphanage with about forty children, in the age from 6 to 18, and delivered the new donations. New clothes, shoes, bicycles and toys brought joy to the children, and on behalf of them and the staff the distinguished guests were greeted and thanked by the General Manager Mr. Dragan Ernvajd. The happy children were then addressed by HRH Crown Princess Katherine: “Today we bring you bicycles, clothes and toys rallied from the local and foreign donors. These donations show that there are still good and noble people in our country and in the world who want to help children, for you are our greatest wealth, our future, and it is our duty to take care of you”. Expressing their gratitude the children from the Orphanage performed a short artistic program, after which the guests took a tour of the Orphanage and spent some time in conversation with the children, finding out about their needs. |
