The Prince of Wales hosts a Private Family Dinner in Honour of His Mother Queen Elizabeth

London 3 June 2003. TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine joined members of the British Royal Family who turned the clock back 50 years at a private dinner for Queen Elizabeth hosted by the Prince of Wales at St James's Palace.

The theme was 1953, with entertainment drawn from the glittering era of big-budget musicals. It was attended by 16 members of the Royal Family, as well as the maids of honour who attended the Queen during her Coronation. There were songs from the musicals Guys and Dolls, The King and I, and The Boyfriend. The table menus replicated the Coronation invitation, featuring toy soldiers, designed for the four-year-old Prince Charles.

Amongst the 45 guests were HRH Prince William The Duke of York, TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex, HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne), TRH The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, TRH The Duke and Duchess of Kent, HRH Princess Alexandra, King Constantine and Queen Anne Marie of the Hellenes, and Camilla Parker Bowles.

TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine warmly congratulated Queen Elizabeth and HRH Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh. Crown Prince Alexander was just under eight years old in 1953 when his godmother Queen Elizabeth was crowned.
