“RED STAR BELGRADE” ROWING CLUB CELEBRATES ITS DAY

Belgrade, 8 June 2003 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II attended today the celebration of the “Red Star Belgrade” Rowing Club’s Day, at Ada Ciganlija.

The host of the celebration was the member of the Crown Council and the Chairman of the Club Prof. Dr. Dragoljub Kavran.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II became the official Patron of the Rowing Club “Red Star Belgrade” last September, and thus renewed the patronage of the Royal Family over this Club.

The Rowing Club was established in 1922, under the name “Belgrade”. Since 1929 the Club was under the high patronage of HM Queen Maria. In 1945 it changed the name into “Red Star”, and in 1997 the Club added its original name and since then it is known as “Red Star Belgrade” Rowing Club.

Special attraction for the present was the moment when Crown Prince Alexander II rowed together with the members of “Red Star” team, old and new, among whom was the Chairman of the Club Prof. Dr. Dragoljub Kavran.

Beside the Crown Prince this celebration was attended by a great number of sport lovers, former and present members of the club, as well as friends from other sport associations.
