EIGHTH INTERNATIONAL CARICATURE SALON OPENS Belgrade, 10 June 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended tonight, at the building of the Old Portmaster’s Office in Zemun, the ceremony of opening of the Eighth International Caricature Salon, organized by the Town Hall of Zemun. This year there are 807 participants of the Salon, from about 70 countries of the world. Zemun’s Caricature Salon is one of the five biggest, among about 250 festivals like this that take place every year throughout the world. The eighth International Caricature Salon was opened by the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Nebojsa Covic, who pointed out that laughter and human capability to maintain sense of humor certainly were the qualities of our people even in the most difficult times, and reminded the present guests about the words of the writer Mark Twain, who said he wished “the wrinkles on the faces were from smiles only”. Beside Their Royal Highnesses, the ceremony that took place in front of the beautiful Old Portmaster’s Office building in Zemun, was attended by the Minister of Religion Prof. Dr. Vojislav Milovanovic, the representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as numerous public figures from our country. After the ceremony of the opening of the Caricature Salon and the awarding the best authors, Their Royal Highnesses took the tour of the exhibited works. |
