€ 40,000 DONATIONS TO THE INSTITUTE FOR MOTHER AND CHILD, INSTITUTE FOR NEONATOLOGY AND ORPHANAGE IN ZVECANSKA STREET

Belgrade, 2 July 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Prince Katherine delivered today € 40,000 worth new donations in medical equipment and baby food to the Institute for Mother and Child, Institute for Neonatology and the Home for children without parental care in Zvecanska street.

The donation of Their Royal Highnesses to the Institute for Mother and Child consisted of a neonatal incubator, a warm baby table, an inhalator and an ECG. In her addressing the present, HRH Crown Princess Katherine expressed her hope the new equipment, donated from Greece, will make doctors’ and nurses’ work easier and help them in their everyday struggle for the lives and health of their patients.

The deputy general manager Prof. Dr. Dragutin Trickovic welcomed Their Royal Highnesses, thanked for the donation and pointed out that their generosity has been confirmed many times. According to Prof. Dr. Trickovic, the donated equipment will significantly improve treatment of the young patients. After the delivery, the Chief of the Neonatology ward Prof. Dr. Miodrag Ignjatovic escorted Their Royal Highnesses on a tour of the ward.

Their Royal Highnesses today also visited the Institute for Neonatology, where they delivered an oxymeter, a monitoring system, an incubator and two mobile respirators, all donated from Greece. During her last visit to the Institute, HRH Crown Princess was informed on the needs of this top medical institution and on that occasion promised the new donation, that was delivered today.

In her address Princess Katherine thanked the doctors and nurses for their great efforts they put into helping the babies who are their patients to go on with their lives in their families.

Finishing today’s visits, Their Royal Highnesses went to the Home for the children without parental care in Zvecanska street, where they delivered baby food, the donation of Mr. Iotis from Greece.

In a short speech HRH Crown Princess Katherine pointed out her long time cooperation with this institution where she feels at home, for Their Royal Highnesses take every opportunity to visit this Home.
