The speech by the Crown Council member Mr. Dusan Kovacevic, at the celebration of HRH Crown Prince Alexander’s birthday Your Highnesses, Illustrious Crown, On behalf of the Crown Council and of the present ladies and gentlemen I am very honored to wish you all the best for your birthday, at your home. These are the times that generations could only dream about. This day would have been even more beautiful if a question – what is going to happen to us? – had not hung over this House and the entire country. Where are we going and we are we going to come? The experiment that was started 60 years ago is still continued. The heirs of those who brought this country to the verge of extinction, are trying to bring the job to an end. To bring us to hopelessness, to some new, expensive and deadly experiments. We don’t have the problem with those who don’t know what the constitutional Monarchy is; our problem are comrades who know that “very excellent”, but they are disturbed by the fact that a dozen of them can’t be “the collective King”. They could somehow agree on wearing the Crown; they would carry it in turns – some on even, some on odd days. Your Highness, the history of Serbia, the history of our people is intertwined with the names of Your ancestors. The Karadjordjevics are the roots, the tree and the fruit of this country. And the future of Serbia is You, Your wife Crown Princess Katherine and Your sons: Peter, Philip and Alexander. No one in Serbia has friends like these who surround You today. Your Highness, we wish you a long life and good health, for the good of our people and our country. Many happy returns! |
