CHILDREN FROM “MOSA PIJADE” ORPHANAGE ON HOLIDAY IN GREECE THROUGH MEDIATION OF THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES Belgrade, 22 July 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine made it possible for more than 60 children from the Homes for children without parental care from all over Serbia to spend this summer in Greece, through mediation of the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine and “Lifeline Hellas” humanitarian organization under patronage of HRH Crown Princess Katherine. The first group of children from the orphanage in Zvecanska street departed on 5 July, and the second is going today, and will stay on holiday until 8 August. On that occasion TRH Crown Prince Alexander II Crown Princess Katherine and Prince Philip organized a reception at The Royal Palace today for a group of 12 children from “Mosa Pijade” orphanage. The reception was also attended by the executive manager of all Homes for the children without parental care in Belgrade Mr. Milan Samardzija. Their Royal Highnesses presented the children with new clothes and shoes for their summer vacation, which was provided by local manufacturers. The money for daily expenses of the children was given to one of the teachers, Mr. Milivoj Vukosavljevic. This project was supported by the Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Gordana Matkovic with her associates and the City Hall of Belgrade with the Mayor Mrs. Radmila Hrustanovic. The transport was provided by the Greek National Railway. This noble act of Their Royal Highnesses enabled children from several orphanages to spend summer in camps in Greece. The young ones will go to Greece in groups during the whole summer, and they will stay in children’s camps “Happy Children – Happy Youth” in Agios Georgios in Attica peninsula, the camp of the Greek NGO “Caritas Hellas” in Syros island, camp “Agios Andreas” in Athens and camp Vironas. Two week and three week programs will be organized for the children during which they will learn about friendly Greece and meet with children from all over Europe and make new friends. |
