VISIT TO THE ASSEMBLY OF VOJVODINA

Belgrade, 29 August 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine met today with the Speaker of the Regional Assembly of Vojvodina, Mr. Nenad Canak and the Regional Secretary of Health, Dr. Dusan Bozic, and later on visited the Clinical Centre Novi Sad and the Children’s Hospital where they delivered €33,000 donations.

Introducing Their Royal Highnesses to the history of the Regional Assembly of Vojvodina’s building Mr. Canak pointed out that the Assembly has 120 members who are using 6 official languages and belong to various religions which is an extraordinary example in Europe.

“Vojvodina is the example of ethnic and religious tolerance and respect of everybody and everyone regardless of the origin and political orientation. These are the basic principles that I personally support”, emphasized Crown Prince Alexander II.

Pointing out that this region’s economic potentials should be maximally used and export stimulated, he added: “Foreign investors are already coming, but we should all work together to bring even more of them”.

Presenting the situation in the health care system Dr. Bozic introduced the idea to reestablish Regional Health Insurance Fund, as recommended by the World Health Organization.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II, having emphasized that his wife and he work hard to help our country, and above all, our Health Institutions, and having thanked for the warm welcome expressed his hope that by working together the conditions will be created for the speedy recovery of our Health Institutions and our entire economy.

After that Their Royal Highnesses visited the Clinical Centre and the Children’s Hospital in Novi Sad.
