VISIT TO PROKUPLJE

Belgrade, 5 September 2003 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Princess Katherine visited Prokuplje today where they were warmly welcomed by the Mayor Dragan Milentijevic, members of the City Council, the head of “Sveti Prokopije” Monastery Father Lazar Barac, as well as the head of local Health Centre Veselin Koprivica.

In his speech the Crown Prince emphasized the glorious past of Toplica area and added that Prokuplje and all of our country have a bright future:

“Let us work together to achieve this goal, let us respect everybody, regardless of religious, ethnical or political background. I am sure that in this way we will achieve all of our goals and that our descendants will be very proud of us.”

In the Ceremonial Hall of the Town Hall building the Crown Prince and Princess were warmly welcomed by the Red Cross authorities, various NGOs, and representatives of cultural and economic institutions.

After the visit to the Health Centre where the valuable donation of one ambulance car was delivered, Their Royal Highnesses continued their stay in Prokuplje by visiting “Hissar” company.

They were warmly greeted there by the general manager Mr. Zoran Markovic who introduced Their Royal Highnesses to the work of this factory, showing them production lines and pointing out the importance of the factory for Toplica region.

Crown Prince Alexander II addressed the gathered employees:

“Production of health food is of vital importance for our economy and I am sure that you will become known in the world market with your products. We must strive to attract foreign investors and partners so that our entire economy can recover”.

The company’s General Manager expressed his hope that this visit by Their Royal Highnesses was a good sign and encouragement for the business to get even better.
