CONGRATULATIONS TO PRESIDENT MAROVIC ON HIS APOLOGY TO THE CITIZENS OF CROATIA

Belgrade, 10 September 2003 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II congratulated to the President of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro Mr. Svetozar Marovic on the apology that he extended to the citizens of Croatia, and on his accepting of the apology to the citizens of Serbia and Montenegro by the Croatian President Mr. Stjepan Mesic.

“I most sincerely congratulate you on this wonderful gesture of international reconciliation, and on your courage to turn a new page in our history and development of good relations with our neighbours.

Although we shall always remember all our victims, tragedies of the past must be put behind us, in order to step forward to a better future, not only of our country but of the whole region of Southeast Europe, based on democratic principles, respect of human rights and economic success”, emphasized the Crown Prince in his letter of congratulations to President Marovic.
