MEDICINES TO BANJICA HOSPITAL, SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO THE ORPHANAGES

Belgrade, 12 September 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine visited the Orthopedic and Surgical Institute Banjica today where they delivered the donation in medicines and medical supplies, and then went to the Home for children without parental care “Mosa Pijade” where they donated school supplies.

The medicines were donated to Banjica Institute by the great pharmaceutical companies “Cleva” and “Lavipharm” from Greece, and were rallied by the Foundation of HRH Crown

Princess Katherine at the great charity event in “Ekali Club in Athens this March.

The school supplies for the Belgrade orphans was also rallied by the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine from the local donors.

At the Orthopedic and Surgical Institute Banjica, Their Royal Highnesses handed over the donation to the general manager Prof. Dr. Zdeslav Milinkovic who warmly thanked them on behalf of all the doctors and the entire staff of the Institute for their generous help.

Princess Katherine expressed her hope that these medicines will be used in the best possible way in the struggle for human lives.

“I know how difficult the conditions you work in are. We know the lack of equipment and supplies is one of the biggest problems you have been struggling with over the last ten years. I am sure the situation will get better and I also know that many people from the country and abroad are willing to help our hospitals”, added the Princess, promising that she will continue her efforts to help as much as possible together with her husband Crown Prince Alexander II.

Their Royal Highnesses, escorted by the director Milenkovic and his associates, then took a round of the Institute’s patients.

At the Home for the children without parental care “Mosa Pijade”, Their Royal Highnesses donated school supplies to the general manager of the Centre for Protection of Infants, Children and Youth Mr. Zoran Milacic, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Mr. Branko Radovanovic.

The Crown Prince and the Crown Princess spent some time playing with young ones who gathered to greet them, recite and sing songs.

“We came to bring joy to you today, bringing you school supplies that you will use throughout the school year. This is our modest contribution by which we wish to make the beginning of the school year happier for you”, said the Princess wishing the children a lot of good grades, friendship and success in their school days
