CONDEMNATION OF VANDALISM IN NOVI SAD

Belgrade, 29 September 2003 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II was shocked by the act of vandalism when over fifty tomb stones were desecrated at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Novi Sad, and condemned this act in his letters to His Eminence the Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar and the Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Borislav Novakovic.

“Destroying of the sacral objects is a crime which must never and nowhere be unpunished, and I hope that the perpetrators will be soon brought to the face of justice.

I most severely condemn any violence on the sacred places of any religion, and once again I express my belief that the only way for our society to become stable and truly democratic is to respect everybody and everyone regardless of the ethnic or religious origin” , said Crown Prince Alexander II in his letter.
