SERBIAN-AMERICAN CONGRESS IN LANSING Belgrade, 25 October 2003 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II has sent a greeting letter to the participants of The First Grand Banquet of Serbian – American Congress in Lansing, Illinois. The Serbian American Congress (SAC), an umbrella organization consists of the Serbian National Federation (SNF), the Serbian National Defense (SND) and the Serbian Unity Congress (SUC). “You have gathered here in Lansing, far away from our homeland, but often in it in your thoughts. Our homeland is going through a very difficult period of its history, and it needs you more than ever. I appeal to you to get involved as much as you can, through your contacts and business associates, in revitalization of our country’s economy and its decrepit social services, like health care system and others. The country needs investors and business partners who would, through a healthy economy, establish solid foundations for a lasting peace and stability in the whole region. Through the joint efforts and fundamental reforms, we are going to become a modern democratic nation, a leader in South Eastern Europe, whose aim is to join European Union. Your positive and constructive participation in this endeavor is of vital importance”, said the Crown Prince in his letter, expressing regrets for not being able to attend this gathering, and extending his wife’s and his sons’ best wishes to the participants.
