OUR PSYCHIATRISTS AT THE POST GRADUATE TRAINING IN LONDON

Belgrade, 3 November 2003 – Through mediation of the Foundation HRH Crown Princess Katherine and Dr Elaine Laycock who support the work of “Lifeline” humanitarian organization from London, three psychiatrists from Serbia had a chance to travel to expert training program in London.

Dr Milan Stanojkovic, Director of Gornja Toponica Special Psychiatric Hospital, his Deputy Dr Vlada Arandjelovic and Professor Grozdanko Grbesa, Director of the Institute for mental care at the Clinical Centre in Nis were invited by Lifeline Humanitarian Organization to visit London to attend three days of Post Graduate training from October 21 until October 24. They were interested to know how mental health services are organized in England as both Dr Stanojkovic and Professor Grbesa are members of the Committee for the reorganization of mental health services for the Republic of Serbia.

They visited Hillingdon Hospital where Dr Julia Palmer, Consultant psychiatrist, showed them round, and Shiodeus wing of Watford General Hospital where Dr Steve Dunstan and his team spoke to them. They hope that Dr Julia Palmer will visit their hospital in Serbia in 2004 to advise them about how to modernize and improve services.
