STATEMENT OF THE CROWN COUNCIL AND THE PRIVY COUNCIL OF THE CROWN

The Crown Council and the Privy Council of the Crown call on all citizens of Serbia and Montenegro to take part in the forthcoming elections. Secret ballot and public counting of votes are safeguards of any democracy. We need new people, not blackmailed but with clean hands, without them we cannot return to Europe and get rid of sanctions. The oldest institutions and guardians of tradition, the Crown and the Church, have on a number of occasions already declared their support for democratic changes.
Taking part in the elections is the least we can do for our own salvation and for the salvation and survival of the entire community. The Crown Council and the Privy Council call attention to Crown Prince Alexander’s view that the victory of the candidate of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia would represent a significant step on the road towards the rebirth of our nation.
