SPECIAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION IN ATHENS - HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE

Athens 12 November 2003 - A dinner to celebrate the special birthday of HRH Crown Princess Katherine took place last night in Athens in the home of her daughter Alison Andrews and her children. Princess Katherine was delighted to be surrounded by her family and so many friends. Her parents Mr and Mrs Batis, her son Mr David Andrews and her sister Mrs Betty Roumeliotis joined in the celebration. Several hundred friends came to warmly wish Princess Katherine much happiness and good health.

Princess Katherine was very touched by the talented students from Cuprija School of Music came as a surprise from Serbia especially to do a superb performance in honour of the Princess’s birthday. The Cuprija School for musically gifted children in Serbia is one of three schools in the world (The Central Music School in Moscow and The Menuhin School in England) to offer such specialized education for children with extraordinary musical talent. The presence of an ensemble of Greek folkloric dancers gave much pleasure to all present. A very nice video was shown with the highlights of the Princess’s life and her tremendous contribution to humanitarian causes. HRH Crown Prince Alexander gave a moving speech and wished his wife all the very best for the future.

Their Royal Highnesses with the members of the Princess’s family will be travelling from Athens to Belgrade today. Crown Princess Katherine’s official birthday celebration will be held in The White Palace in Dedinje 13 November 2003. Their Royal Highnesses
