“THE BALKAN ODYSSEY” AT THE SAVA CENTER

Belgrade, 17 November 2003 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended the gala concert “The Balkan Odyssey” at the Sava Center tonight, performed by the folklore troupe “Kolo”.

“The Balkan Odyssey” is performed by over sixty performers, and it reflects in an artistic way the spirituality and culture of our people throughout its history in the Balkans, the great crossroads of nations and cultures. During the recent tour of “Kolo” in Australia, this piece was for the first time performed on the stage of Sydney Opera.

“Kolo” is a troupe that has performed in all continents, presenting our cultural heritage through dance and song. Last year this troupe spent eight months on the tour abroad.

Beside Their Royal Highnesses this extraordinary event was attended by the Ambassadors of over twenty countries, prominent cultural and public figures, former troupe members and many “Kolo” admirers.

Their Royal Highnesses, together with other distinguished guests and the audience, enjoyed very much in the dances and songs from our rich cultural heritage.
