BALLET SCHOOL “LUJO DAVICO” STUDENST AT THE RECEPTION
AT THE ROYAL PALACE

The proceeds of the performance of Ballet School “Lujo Davic” students intended for the Christmas presents to the orphans

Belgrade, 10 December 2003 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted a reception for the students of the Ballet School “Lujo Davico” at The Royal Palace today. They will be in Greece from 10th to 17th December and perform “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky. The entire proceeds from the performance is intended for the health institutions in Serbia and the children without parental care.

The guests were first welcomed by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II who expressed his pleasure for the audience in Athens and Thessalonica will have the opportunity to see their performance which will contribute in bringing joy to the orphans in Serbia for Christmas.

Then the present were addressed by HRH Crown Princess Katherine:

“I am very happy for having you here with us today, and because you are going to perform in Athens and Thessalonica. The proceeds from your performance will help the program conducted by my Foundation and “Life Line” Hellas under my patronage. This program will provide Christmas presents for more then 1,500 children from the orphanages in Serbia, and also the means to purchase an incubator. This program is entitled “Children for Children”.

Through the mediation of the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine and “Life Line” humanitarian organization from Athens, under patronage of Princess Katherine, the students will stay in Athens and Thessalonica were they will have four performances at the local schools and colleges, which cooperate closely with the humanitarian organization of Princess Katherine. These young people who, through their performance, help the children in Serbia, will have three shows in Athens and one in Thessalonica. The ticket for this humanitarian event is €20 plus a Christmas present.

“The Nutcracker” is a ballet fairytale on the music of P.I. Tchaikovsky, in the choreography by Vladimir Logunov, and it will be performed by 36 students of the Ballet School “Lujo Davico” from Belgrade.

At the end of their visit , the students and the teachers of the School took a tour of The Royal and The White Palace, escorted by the Palace guide.
