THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES AT THE NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST IN WASHINGTON

Belgrade, 5 February 2004 - TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine are staying in Washington today. The Royal Couple were invited to attend the traditional National Prayer Breakfast organized at the “Hilton” hotel in Washington.

Beside Their Royal Highnesses the breakfast will be attended by the Minister of Human Rights and Ethnic Minorities of Serbia and Montenegro Mr. Rasim Ljajic, the Speaker of Montenegrin Parliament Mr. Ranko Krivokapic, the leader of SPO (Serbian Renewal Movement) Mr. Vuk Draskovic, the member of the Kosovo and Metohija Coordination Center Mr. Vladimir Bozovic, the Prime Minister of Kosovo Mr. Bairam Redzepi, as well as the representatives of NGOs from Belgrade and Podgorica.

The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington is organized every first Tuesday in February. This tradition was established by a group of senators and congressmen. In 1953 when the senators and congressmen invited the then President of the USA Dwight Eisenhower, the breakfast took its present form.

Since then, each year the breakfast has been attended by political, religious and civic leaders from all over the world, and the number of invitees has reached about 4,000. Beside the Congress leaders, the breakfast is regularly attended by the President and the Vice-President of the USA, as well as by many Administration officials.
