EXHIBITION AT THE ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OPENED BY HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II

Belgrade, 14 February 2004 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine opened today the exhibition dedicated to the original artifacts dating from the time of the First Serbian Uprising at the Ethnographic Museum. The exhibition was organized, in cooperation with the Museum, by the Japanese humanitarian organization JEN.

Addressing the present, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II reminded about the importance of preserving tradition, particularly during the year of the great jubilee when we celebrate the Bicentennial of the establishment of modern Serbian state.

“Preserving our nation’s heritage enriches the culture of the whole world, the part of which we used to be at the time of the Uprising, as we are today”, emphasized the Crown Prince in his speech.

The Chief Curator of the Ethnographic Museum Mrs. Vesna Marjanovic introduced Their Royal Highnesses to the history of this important institution. Mrs. Branka Mraovic spoke on behalf of JEN and thanked the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess for their constant help to this humanitarian organization that gathers women refugees and internally displaced persons. Upon the opening ceremony, Jen representatives handed over a present to the Crown Prince – a traditional Serbian hand woven and embroidered towel.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II thanked for the gift as well as for the aid that the humanitarian organization JEN gives in preserving our tradition, and opened the exibition.
