VISITS OF THE AMERICAN SENATORS’ WIVES AND HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE

New donations to the Home for children without parental care “Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj”, children’s ward of Zvezdara hospital, refugee camp in Krnjaca and the “South Banat” Health Center in Pancevo

Belgrade, 20 February 2004 – The guests of HRH Crown Princess Katherine for several last days were the wives of the American senators Grace Nelson, Margery Lottis, Mary Lynn Dennehy, Mary Garlinger, Deborah Burleigh and Nancy Huff, who have been into humanitarian work for many years.

During their stay in Belgrade, various activities were organized. The distinguished guests were had a short meeting with the Mayor of Belgrade Mrs. Radmila Hrustanovic, and a meeting with the religious leaders of our country.

At the very beginning of their stay the guests were received by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle who spent some time in conversation with them.

Then followed visits to the Home for children without parental care “Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj”, children’s ward of Zvezdara hospital, refugee camp in Krnjaca and the “South Banat” Health Center in Pancevo. During those visits HRH Crown Princess Katherine delivered new donations rallied through great efforts of her Foundation.

The Health Center in Pancevo got new donations of orthopedic supplies, while the Home for children without parental care and the refugee camp in Krnjaca were donated with food, sanitary supplies, clothes, shoes, toys and candies.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine took today’s opportunity not just to help the endangered categories of our population, but also to make connections between the people who want to help and those who need help.

“My husband, Crown Prince Alexander and I keep trying to connect the people of big hearts” – said Princess Katherine, adding that she had the honor of introducing the distinguished American guests to our doctors, as well to our need for help that IS still enormous.
