APPEAL FOR HELP

Belgrade, 18 March 2004 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander has sent letters with his appeal for help to His Eminence Roman Catholic Archbishop Monsignor Stanislav Hocevar and His Excellency Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Eugenio Sbarbaro.

“As you know, violence that broke out in Kosovo and Metohia is spreading, taking its toll in human lives and destruction of cultural monuments protected by the UNESCO. I most strongly condemn every form of violence, particularly the one inspired by religious hatred. Desecrating the places of worship, burning down the churches and mosques, is a crime that must be stopped immediately.

I appeal to you for help to ask for protection for all lives regardless of religion or ethnic origin. The international community must act swiftly to restore peace and order in this tormented region” – emphasized the Crown Prince in his letter.
